Is it maintaining temp??
They don't light as well as KBB, but once I get them going zero problems.
They don't light well with lighter fluid at all. I actually use somewhat of a layer of Kingsford on top of my basket of B & B when using LF for the Pit Barrel.

Think that's what I like about B&B bricks. Seem to fool ya. Starts slower, but it's deceiving. They always plow through with steady heat for me.

I've found the same thing, they take FOREVER to come up to temp for me. If I start with just a few in the corner of my SnS seems like they take almost an hour to get up to 225-250. I've started lighting a few more to begin with so I can start cooking within 30 to 45 minutes.
I also don't seem to need a lot of briquettes for cooks as they tend last a long time.
I've had zero problems controlling temps once I get them into my range, just seems to take them longer to get up to speed.
