Alright here we go. Saw the Stubbs sale and thought I'd take the chance to learn something. Keep in mind I'm not looking to switch horses here. I like KBB and dollar for dollar I'm not sure it can be beat in the briquette world. BUT I'm open minded on this for sure. I got no dogma in my Q.
I do understand that formulas for these products change all the time so YMMV.
# 1 Ash test:
Lots out there are the interweb talks about way less ash from Stubbs. To the point I almost did not run this test. Again I know formulas change so I am not by any means challenging what you know about these products. Just posting what I learned from the test.
Burned off 14 bricks in open air. Fired them up with a Weber cube. Which by the way. If you use those babys dont talk bad about me and my lighted fluid. Man thats some black smoke coming of them puppies. Not to mention what the heck is that stuff that dont burn off?
Results are below:

Well heres the answer on ash:
KBB left 21.71428% of its weight in ash
Stubbs left 22% of its weight in ash :0
I'm really blown away by this based on what I thought I knew. I plan on repeating the test just to be sure I dont have an error someplace.
I will say it takes Stubbs takes a really long time to get off the line but it can go the distance. I'm looking forward to a time and temp test next.
I'll attempt a just temp test if I can get a method figured out.
Last but not least. A cook test for tasting. Oh yeah the money test.
