Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
I'm getting low on B&B. Checked ACE, $16.99 for the 17.6# bag 😡. I'm not paying that. Cowboy it is. I used for the recent burnt ends cook. Was planning on B&B but stuff happens. Whole other story. Got 7 hours and could have gotten 5 more in the SnS.

WalMart had B&B oak for $10 per 17# bag.
They also have Jealous Devil briqs at $12 for a 17# bag. I burned some JD recently, I liked how little ash it made. The briqs are large.

Well, lessee here... On my SnS kettle, a full insert of B&B will run ~225-250 for a solid 18 hours, and more. Here's a brisket cook from the other day:
I hit my grate target of ~250 by 9pm, and they were still cruising at noon the next day.
This photo is at 11am the next day, and you can see, there is still ample unburned charcoal in there (I had stirred the fire to bring the unlit coals to the center from the ends of the insert).
In fact, I could not get the dang kettle to drop temp, I was going to leave the brisket in there to rest after it probed tender. Had the bottom big vent closed and just tiny cracks for the dome vent and the smoke-hole, and it just refused, kept right on at 250, so I moved the cut into the Pit Boss pellet cabinet smoker (change from orange to red on the plot). From this, I'm going to say you can reasonably expect 20 hours per insert at low & slow grate temps.
I typically get at least five insert-fills from a bag of B&B. It's probably closer to seven, but let's leave it at five to make the math easy: 5x20 = 100 hours of low & slow per bag. So if you've got 21 bags, you're good for 2100 hours of low & slow. That's almost 88 days running 24/7.
You should be good for a while!
