I’ve been using these briquettes for a long time solely for smoking and I just cracked open my last bag for some ribs today. At $20/bag it was a little pricey (probably its downfall) but it’s awesome stuff and a store near me would frequently have it on a BOGO sale, and THAT price I could handle. When it was announced it was being discontinued I bought every bag I could find on clearance prices, which were equally as nice. Since then I’ve slowly but surely getting my garage space back😂.
I’m not too heartbroken though. I’ve used B&B briquettes a few times and liked it a lot, so I’ll be using that once this era is over.
Keep the smoke rolling everyone!
That’s disappointing. Unfortunately it happens often and there will be a store that carries a product I like, and suddenly they no longer carry it, and I can’t find it anywhere else.
I feel your pain, Andrrr. Loved the Weber briqs. I do still have 4 full bags left, and use them very sparingly, just for indirect cooks on my smaller grills, a PK300 and PKGO. Like yourself, I’ve moved to B&B for all other briquette uses, and it will be my go-to once these Webers are gone. Not for lack of trying, I was unable to ever determine who actually manufactured the Weber briqs, would love to know.
Andrrr Yeah, I’ve tried other brands but have now settled on B&B for hot & fast as well. KBB and Cowboy smoke like a nuclear blast when lighting up a chimney, the smoke with B&B is tremendously less. And it’s a blue smoke, not a heavy white cloud like the others. Still not quite as good as Weber, but pretty close. That’s important to me, as I have neighbors close by and don’t want them to think I’m burning the place down. Oddly, in one of Tom horseman’s latest videos he received (con’t)…
…info from Duraflame recommending B&B for direct grilling and Cowboy for low & slow. I haven’t tried Cowboy for that as yet, but some folks on the board here love it and I plan to give it a try sometime soon. I did do a quick comparison a while back of Weber, B&B, and Cowboy for direct grilling, and came away with the conclusion that Cowboy burned the hottest, B&B the least hot, and Weber in between. But I think that may have been the old B&B formulation, which apparently has now changed.
