I'm normally assiduous about keeping my fuel dry, but this week has been abnormal for several reasons. Short version of the story is I now have most of a bag of Jealous Devil lump charcoal that has been rained upon and which is now getting a healthy coating of snow. I've never let this happen before.
Do I need to do anything special before using it? Can I just give it extra time to light up? If I just put it in a bin now will it get moldy? Is it ruined?
Put it somewhere where it can fully dry for a couple of days and you should be good to go. I once bought a pickup bed of charcoal that was on sale, left it the bed of the truck overnight, zero chance of rain forecasted, and naturally got about two inches of rain over night. I just layed the bags out in the garage for a couple of days, flipped them over to dry for another couple of days, and there we fine.

Knock the snow off of it as much as possible. do not let the snow melt. Maybe if you let them dry out after that they will be fine, but I would doubt it. You have to life in a pretty dry environment for charcoal to come back from being wet. Never had any luck with it in MN, anyway.
I forgot to put the lid back on my storage bin once, and had it rain for an hour or so on a almost full bag of briquettes.
I removed them from the bag and spread them on newspaper on the garage floor for a few days. They worked fine for me afterwards
I’ve had good results letting wet lump dry spread out on the patio where it wouldn’t get wet again. The only thing is that is in central Texas. Cool dry air will take the moisture right out but I have no idea what kind of humidity level you face there. Unless there’s a bunch of it you may be ahead to move on without it.
