Yes, I do use other types of fuel like lump charcoal and pellets but I like to compete using KF Blue (no, they are not my sponsor) because I can fly into any city in America and drive my rental car to Walmart to pick up one bag of KF Blue and win a Grand Championship.
Interesting because I've also seen him comment that he uses whatever the competition sponsor provides because it's free...
Personally, I've bounced around to just about every brand of briq that is available in my area. In the end, they are all more similar than they are different. find a brand you like and stick with it. ...whichever brand that may be... Something to be said for consistency.... which is why i use briqs over lump in the first place

Ok, after a few short and sweet cooks, I gotta tell ya…. I’m sold on the cowboy! They “spark” a lot when dumping the chimney, but boy, do they burn consistently and longer. I am realizing I can use fewer with the same results. Which means the bag is lasting longer and stretching my briquette dollar!
