    Jealous Devil Max Briquettes

Was at the local Walmart this morning, and looked to see if they had any Cowboy briquettes in stock.
    No dice.
But, they did have this on clearance..
$10 for 20lbs. They had maybe half a pallet. I bought the only 3 bags that didn't show signs of mice having chewed through them... Click image for larger version Name:	20240309_100839.jpg Views:	0 Size:	2.50 MB ID:	1565721 I've never used it, but it's jealous devil, so it's gotta be good, right 🤷‍♂️
The briqs are huge. It's gonna need to burn hot because the chimney is gonna hold a lot less coals..

I tried them once and it wasn’t that I didn’t care for them, I just didn’t think they were worth the premium. IIRC they tend to crumble a lot once they’ve been lit so they’re tough to reuse for another cook. I could be wrong. For that price though I would certainly pick some up. Nice catch!

After yesterday's purchase, I spent a little time today getting my BBQ and charcoal storage area organized. Found a half a bag of KBB I was unaware of hidden behind some other stuff.
Decided to take a comparison pic of the different brands of charcoal that I currently have in stock...

Crazy how different from one another they all are

Which is your favorite? I use lump, and JD lump is my favorite so far.

Cowboy probably. I use it pretty much just for grilling, but it works for long cooks too.
The B&B and the charlogs I mix for long cooks. I haven't used the jealous devil yet.
Also forgot to include a Kirklan Pro briq in the pic 🤦‍♂️ Those I picked up at Costco the other day. Jury is still out after one cook with them. Size wise they fall between the KBB and the Cowboy.
I would say if I were to whittle down to one all around go to, it would be Cowboy

Interesting. Youtube ( if you can believe watch you're watching) has Cowboy way down the list. I do know that I m NOT a fan of Royal Oak as it seems to burn way too fast.. I am cooking on either the Akorn Kamodo, or the PK360 by the way. I'll have to give it a try. Thx

At least for the price, it’s a good value for essentially a heating source. Good score 👍

Yup, used their lump, very good burnin material. You scored big with those bags!

I have used the JD Maxx briquettes before and I like them. Can't really remember what I cooked on them, whether I primarily used them hot and fast or low and slow or what but I do remember that they performed well. I picked up a bag a couple weeks ago at Walmart for $17 but will have to go back and look to see if they have any more for $10.

When I was there they also had the JD lump for $17 which was a great price and if they had that for $10 I would probably buy all they had. Big fan of their lump.

Hope they work out, never tried them. Picked some up at the Kroger store, there brand. I'll never do that again. could not get enough heat out of them. It also took much longer in the chimney to get started.
