    What Charcoal

Walmart on line had B & B oak Briquets for $9.97 16lb bag so I bought 1, thought I would get more at that price but now they are $23.30. Saw this: Expert Grill Charcoal Briquets Has any one tried them & if so what did you think of them?
    Thanks for your thoughts

I'm partial to Cowboy Briquettes as an alternative to B&B. I usually find them at Tractor Supply stores.
Barring that, I would go with Kingsford before going with The Walmart brand... just my .02

Edit to add: $9.97 is about the best price you'll find these days on B&B.
Load up next time you see it on sale for that price.

I’ve never used Cowboy brand, but I’ve read lots of positive comments here about it. For that price, I think I’ll try it myself.

I'm in the Cowboy Briquettes camp
I picked it the 40#s at Walmart for the price mentioned. Used 1st time in the PBC and Kettle and was impressed with their performance. My new go to. Still B&B for long cooks.

I'd buy that pack of Cowboy briquets. I cook with them all the time. Great charcoal.

It’s been a while, but I’ve used the Expert Grill charcoal before. It’s a cheaper brand of BBQ accessories that Walmart carry’s, in addition to the charcoal. I found it to be “ok” for grilling, I never used it for long cooks though…..I doubt it’ll ever be confused with B & B. There’s been several posts here about the B & B going on sale at Walmart, usually for a short period of time. My advice would be to check back on the Walmart site occasionally and when it’s on sale, stock up on the B & B.

+1 on B&B products. Also check out Academy Sports for both B&B briquettes and char logs.

+1 on Academy, if you live near one, it’s $9.97 everyday normal price.

I ask my son why my B&B lump at Walmart had gone from $14 and change to $23. His store ships most of their charcoal back to the warehouse at the end of summer. It becomes an online only thing then and for some reason that raises the price.

that seems like a head scratcher to me. BBQ has become a year round sport.
I would think "off season" demand woud be enought to warrant keeping some in stock

Finster Me too, but corporate America has baffled me for years.
