    Who made Weber briquettes?

Just curious…..anyone on the board have any inside info on who manufactured Weber briquettes? I still have four bags left, and treat them like gold. I’ve always assumed it was B&B but I just opened my first bag of B&B orange bag this week and they don’t look anything like the Webers, and partially burned ones seem much more fragile, so I think I was on the wrong track with that. I’m puzzled. How many charcoal manufacturers could there be in the US that would make such a high quality product yet not offer an equally high quality product under their own brand name? I’m missing something here.

I can’t locate the article/blog I read it, but I think Royal Oak was the contract brewer….er…..briquette maker in this situation. But seriously, those are some dynamite briqs. I wish I could get RO Chef Select in my neck of the woods, best charcoal around imo.

I've never found RO to be that great of charcoal. Maybe they made a special run for Weber?

I thought I saw somewhere it was the Royal Oak Chef Select that was Weber charcoal in the US. Think it might be a different product in other countries though and how why Canada can still get Weber charcoal.

I think I am still at 12-15 bags. I save those for special occasions.

I love it. Only this crowd would stockpile charcoal for “special occasions “. 🤣😊
But to be honest, I’m jealous! 👍

I've got 3 bags of Weber briquettes left. I'm going to miss them when they're gone.

I'm down to my last bag of the Weber briquettes. I was lucky enough to find it for free on FB marketplace. I'm curious too how they are apparently still available in Canada.

I got 3 out of 10 bags left and haven't used any for probably about 4 years once I learned they would no longer be available in the US. I use B&B for the long cooks. They are great functionally, but have a harsher smell. I guess I'll keep holding out for their return...

I thought they were also available in Mexico as well. I only say that because I think I remember one of MH's videos on here where had some top Weber exec state that they still make them for canadia and Mexico.

Rod Curious about your observation that the B&B have a harsher smell. I’m about to use more from my first bag of B&B, are there certain cooks that you would not wish to use them for, for example, chicken, fish, etc?

Jessterr It's not a flavor thing. I don't pick up anything off puting there. It's just a harsher smell while cooking compared to KBB or Weber.

I had 75+ bags when they were clearancing them out. Where have they all gone? Lots of cooks!
