    Royal Oak Lump Charcoal

had great luck with this stuff for 4-5 years then the last 3-4 bags I purchased were all garbage. All the pieces are tiny and have even found quite a bit of GRAVEL in the last two bags. Not sure how rocks get mixed in...anyone else have the same problem?

Yup. Awful lump. Burns very quickly and just junk.

when it was not all smashed up it would burn 15+ hours in my green egg no problem but these little bits burn out fast. Guess i need to find some B&B!

    Try some B&B or FOGO.

I have been told B & B is good. Need to get me some, when I get to Ace

This YouTube video convinced me on B&B. If this is accurate, it's hard to argue.

Thanks for sharing. The result doesn't surprise me. Never used R.O. or Embers. My experience with BB and Kingsford this is what I've seen.
BB gives longer cooks. Anything around 2 hour's Kingsford is fine. Longer cooks, I go BB.

I was a longtime Kingsford Pro user. Nothing wrong with it, but just tried B&B for the first time and B&B way outperforms it on long cooks.

If you have a local Ace Hardware they normally carry several brands of lump you can try. It’s been my experience you can get a bad bag of lump from anyone once in a while. My choices are Kamado Joe Big Block, B&B, and Rockwood right now, but I just saw that the Home Depot 20 miles away has Fogo and Jealous Devil. I’l be trying both of those soon.

Royal Oak is my lump of choice.
When you look at other lump in that price range I’ve found the same junk in all of them.
            Worst was Kingsford for me.
id like to cook with JD exclusively but at over $40 a bag I stick with RO or Cowboy lump.
