Has anyone experimented with horizontal or vertical orientation of the B&B Char Logs? I have large charcoal basket, 12 x 12 x 12, and aiming for longest burn times in 55 gallon UDS. Thank y’all in advance.

Setting up for a long smoke I run 4 or more char-logs vertical, along the edge of the basket. Then I usually have one or two on top, laying flat. This picture only has the first layer of briquets. I over-fill the basket for a 15 hour burn time. It could go longer but I have always snuffed it out. This is the smaller size OJB fuel basket.

this is typically how i run the coconut hexlogs that have been mentioned on here before for long cooks. I find they last longer that way than vertical but it probably depends on the grill as wellLast edited by grantgallagher; April 30, 2022, 07:01 AM.
