Incredibly generous of you. I couldn’t be much farther from you and still be in the continental U.S. So I’m out of the running. But one of the west coast folks here better keep that beauty in the AR family.

Dean - would you be open to shipping this one if the buyer pays shipping? Perhaps the buyer could throw in some Smokeilicious wood as an incentive?

I can’t take it myself but I could see if going to a deserving member perhaps more quickly.

I would, but I don't know how to ship something this large.

                Could be several hun.

If, and it’s a big if, you were to go that route, you should be able to find a pack and ship service in the metropolis you live in. They would palletise it for you and have a LTL shipper take it wherever you want. Do you think the Dodgers payroll is extravagant? Wait until you see the quote from the shipping service.

Yes you do. I know you know no one around here will say you don't

On the shipping thing you need to think past the big names, they don't have the logistics to deal with single, small shipments as effectively as others. There are lots of people who might be considered "gypsy shippers", folks who are driving around the country with box trailers behind their pickups. They specialize in smaller, odd shaped loads. Here are a couple booking services that could connect you, and I'm sure there are others:

If this offer came through 6 months ago I would’ve been at your doorstep with my truck bed full of seasoned oak! Had a good wood guy in CA who always had nice supply of oak and almond.

….but we moved to TN this summer.

Hopefully one of our great CA pit members will be able to take advantage!

You might want to share the contact info for the "wood guy" just in case there's an interested party who's unaware that that resource is available.

This just hurts me to look at. I want this so bad. CA is long way from MN though. Someone is gonna get lucky here.

SheilaAnn, as a moderator, and our BD, is presumably committed to Pit welfare. In many cultures it is critically important to graciously give, and to graciously receive, gifts.
All this back and forth re shipping simply reinforces the desirability of simplifying the transfer. Our donor does not deserve to have to deal with shipping headaches.
The donee should agree to not sell this cooker for pecuniary gain, and to commit its use to Pit and community welfare.
I have spoken, and now let myself out.

Wow. Was just talking to someone at the neighborhood chili cookoff about how I’ve always wanted a stick burner. Trying to figure out what vehicle I’d need to rent to pick that up - about 90 minutes away. And have to check out the wood sources around here since I’m relatively new. TripleB pm coming your way

Ask Santamarina about available wood. He was between you and me in Wildomar.
                  I am in Lake Elsinore.

On your way over, check out the woodshed in Anaheim-ish (57 and Batavia road). Patty and Colette should have it all!

For y’all In the IE - including Carolyn and The Burn Fred the Wood Guy moved his biz from Murrieta to Menifee.

His oak was always great quality - white and red. Those are his splits burning in my profile pic!

Oak is what I used on 99% of my cooks - regardless of meat. Got almond a couple times too. Really liked it on pork.
