Tri Tip on the Kanka! I even used my Fluke temp meter that Bones gave me years ago. Bones was a great man and a great friend.

As captainlee mentioned earlier, spring weather in the Rocky Mtn region can swing to extremes. In the Denver metro area today it started raining late afternoon, then hailing, then snowing (which it continues as I write) all with thunder and lightning. Fortunately, my Primo is pretty impervious to the elements and I went ahead with a cook in honor of our past pitsters--baby backs, brussels (I'm on a brussels kick) and rosemary fries.

I remember when I joined the pit, Mr. Bones welcomed me with his signature vernacular and Dan Johnson barraged me with emoji's. I thought "what did I sign up for???" Along the way someone gave EdF the moniker "The Beard of Wisdom" which I though was spot on.

I came to realize that what I signed up for was a community--folks who support one another, share their successes and failures, personal and family challenges, tips, insights, and jokes. Pictures of the thing that makes us human--family, friends, and food--and also tipping our hats to those who have departed. I think perhaps the most "delicious" thing Meathead ever created was this fine AmazingRibs community. Click image for larger version

I didn’t have time this weekend for a long cook, so I did a little surf and turf in memory of our departed brothers. Ribeye and cold boiled shrimp along with a salad…not pictured cause it wasn’t that newsworthy. 🥸 May our departed Pit Brothers know we’re thinking of them……

I’m pretty sure that ribeye qualifies exactly right. Nice steak.

The salad is not pictured, because Panhead John probably did not eat one. You know, vegetables and all. Jk! Love that steak!

That's OK. I figured Houston isn't getting a foot of snow. But it would be fun to see how Panhead John would handle it 🤔.

My tribute to our fallen brothers. Creekstone prime short ribs, a pot o beans, and of course a glass of bourbon to wash it down.

A little music from bonsey to celebrate the day.I watch this video of him doing the death letter blues every now and then, I remember when he sent it to me.

Finger pickin’ and slidin’ up down the neck! Makin’ those strangs jangle! The most memorably comments Bonesy gave me was about a painting I did of my acoustic guitar. I didn’t like the way the strings came out….but he found the beauty in the painting and made me laugh with his comment. He was such a good soul!

      Thanks for posting his video!

Rather than edit my post on page 3, I'll add this little tidbit. Danjohnston949 re-gifted my grill-pinz I gave him to Spinaker. I'll never get over that. Love ya Dan!

I didn't have what I wanted to smoke( ribs) ,but smoked what I had in the frig that my sis picked up on sale. In special memory of Mr. Bones : I think he would have understood and would have liked it since it was a tender corned beef smoked on the Hasty Bake 3 hrs to 165 over B and B charcoal. (after a 24 hr soak to remove extra saltiness) , Then sous vided 6 hours @195 while I worked on the farm. First started the soak Thursday , dry brined Friday and finished it Saturday . I poured the sous vide juices over it and it was moist from that ( not shown in pictures though.. It made good sandwiches Mr. Bones.

My MoMo went in the Horsepistol Friday, difficulty breathing.
Before I found that out my wibs cooked too fast. What we didn’t eat went into my pot o beans. Not crazy about the outcome.
Hopefully my mom Bett, will come home today.
I have pics. Just little time to post them.
Hey Bonesy, Dan, Ed n Smarkley. Thinking of you guys. Feel like a newby today. So I will endeavor to persevere and keep larnin. Smoke on. Brothers n Sistas.

Great job everyone! I am amazed by all the great cooks, and some of the amazing words of tribute to our fallen friends, Mr. Bones, Dan Johnston, Ed and Smarkley (who I did not get a chance to know).

I had hoped to cook for this tribute, and had it on my calendar, but Yvonne's chemo week got compounded by her having a bad sinus infection, and sleeping for 3 days straight all day every day, on the couch, with me tiptoeing around without shoes and turning off the Ring cameras to avoid waking her up. All she wanted to eat was soup too. Then I came down with her crud Saturday night, and the weekend was shot.

I raised a toast with the one beer I drank over the weekend - a Guiness Stout (how can it say draft when it's in a bottle?!?!?), and watched the rest of your cooks.

I also have enjoyed all these moving tributes. I'll be turning up late, probably Wednesday, with my offering of beef back ribs and some barbecue beans.

Ok here we go. A yard bird - i wanted to do it on the kettle for Bonsey, but work got in the way. So it went on the Chimp. And some RG pintos.
