    New DES

I ran across a deal too good to pass up. The local farm store is having a spring sale and one of the items was a Char-Broil Digital Electric Smoker and I decided it was a good time to kick the MES to the curb. It has the WIFI, that I have read is kinda buggy, but it insulated (but has upper and lower vents on both sides... dont understand that???) cook timer or cook to temp with probe and guestmated end time. Regular price was $199, sale priced at $149 and I got $30 off that. It was cheaper than the MES. Set up and burn in took about 3 hours. I tossed in a deer roast because my old dog keeps reminding me that I have been out of dog treats for 3 weeks. So far I like the concept, but I will hold judgement until I do a few real cooks on it. They claim the chip pan will last up to 7 hours, compared to 20 minutes on the MES.

I would love to see photos of the cook and the modifications you make. Sounds like a great deal.

I tried to add pic to last post but it didnt like it for some reason. It has been a while since I did pics on here and have to relearn it. The cook wasnt too impressive. I threw a little cajun jerky spic on a deer trip. No color and came out dry and ugly, remember this is for dog treats so it was cooked to 160 and will get sliced and tossed in the dehydrator.

Still learning the new one. Just remembered I can do a timed cook at 125. That sounds like a dehydrator to me. Sliced and diced, spread out on frog mats and back in the DES for 6 hours. Should be a good test run.
