I just ordered a Masterbuilt electric 10 liter combination deep fryer, boiler, or steamer. The kids want one of the turkeys this year to be fried. My wife got pale when I mentioned getting a pot for my Camp Chef burner. Before we met she went through two house fires. To say she’s cautious is an understatement. After some discussion we settled on the electric one. I have no problem with it. I learned a long time ago these discussions are for finding a solution not a winner. I’ll use it to of course fry the turkey but will try it for wings and steaming tamales too. If anyone has had a bad experience with one of these please let me know.

No idea, I plan on SVing my next pastrami. I will have a report on how well it works as a steamer when we make tamales. I shopped around and found it for $96 and change at Home Depot with free shipping that will have it here Fri Nov 17. Every where else was higher in price with much longer delivery times.

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex SnS and OnlyFire pizza oven. A Smokey Joe and the most recent addition a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. 3 TempSpike wireless meat thermometers.
Nice.. can't wait to see pictures. I'll live vicariously through you. If I brought another cooker in, I'd be the cooked turkey.

I had to do a really good job of presenting my case for this. If this hadn’t been much safer than a pot and burner I couldn’t have pulled it off. I managed to turn the conversation from if we should to which would be best. I didn’t have to grovel or say that long drawn out please or anything.

I have a propane burner but getting the pot to go on it scares her. She’s seen too many of those videos were a turkey fryer goes up in flames. She has literally lost everything twice to fires so I’m not going to cause her to be nervous. Thank you for the offer, under normal circumstances I would gladly accept.

It has a cradle that the pot sits in so it can't flip over. Also has a timer that shuts off the propane. Just let me know if you change yer mind.

We've fried a turkey at my workplace for the last 15 years with an electric fryer every Thanksgiving. I think it's as safer than an outside gas fryer. I wouldn't hesitate to use the one we use at work in my own home. Enjoy that fried turkey!

Draznnl it's not even related to Home Ec. Science teachers. We love to cook :-) We brought in our own electric fryer. When it's not Thanksgiving we fry chicken wings for lunch on Fridays.

I have a propane oil-less fryer, it is basically circular propane cooker, no vat of oil. I like it, I assume the electric are similar, and I use mine almost every weekend to cook a chicken for work lunch salads. I've seen a lot of injuries from the oil vat spills and overflows, good choice!
