Here we go folks, I’m at the Memphis in May comp entered in the Patio Porkers amateur class with my friend Tom. I also entered SCA steak comp and booth decoration comp. We’re still working on it but here’s the start. Our first cook is Thursday. I also got our product for sale in the contestant merch tent.
I’ll try to remember to keep posting as things happen.
TripleB Memphis is May is their own sanctioning body. The Patio Porker class is like a backyard amateur comp in other groups. It is only ribs. You can then enter ancillary classes like sauces, beef, turkey, wings, etc. plus the separate steak comp with SCA (Steak Cookoff assoc) which is another sanctioning body.
I'll need to put it on my calendar and check it out next year. Maybe I could be a judge since I am with KCBS. I use to be a SCA judge, but they never had any events in SoCal (after I took the training) so I never renewed my membership.
