Rib Cookoff at Hope Train Days!

Saturday morning early, I'll drive to Hope for their nonsanctioned rib cookoff. I love this -- they will pick ribs up at my site at 3:30 for judging and winners announced at 4:00 in front of the Amtrak Depot.

I'm going to clean out the Gateway Drum (33 gallon), the BBQ Guru rib ring and pull together rub and sauce. I'm cooking Prairie Fresh baby backs.

I downsized my RV from 21 feet long to a 17 foot long chassis. First time this one has gone to a contest!

While I've retired as a KCBS cook, I do love competition! A one meat event takes lots of the time pressure off. If you're in the neighborhood, please stop by and say howdy!

Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex SnS and OnlyFire pizza oven. A Smokey Joe and the most recent addition a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. 3 TempSpike wireless meat thermometers.
