    Blind Squirrel Finds a Nut

For one brief shinning moment the planets, stars, and universe aligned with the people of Lamar, CO shouting in unison that my butt was the best in show. A real shame that the rest of the competition didn't go as well as that really was one great pork butt. I attribute the success to my lucky cooking hat!

Congrats and I sure am glad the cute young lady's sash doesn't say Pork Butt Queen.

She was the queen of the Sand and Sage Round-up, but for some strange reason the name of the event is the Wild West Round-up.

Congratulations on your win. I’d rank People’s Choice above any other awards given.

I would agree. The biggest issue with KCBS is that it puts way too much emphasis on what a judge thinks is good versus what people think is good. Unfortunately, the money is what the judges think is good. Regardless, the lore will grow far and wide about our victorious beat down of the other teams as declared by the people!

      Amen to that.

Congratulations on the win! Lamar is a great place. I used to go through there all the time when we had an office in Brighton. One of our best customers was the Phillips Pipeline group there.

It is a nice town. I had passed through a number of times, but this was the first overnight.

"Never trust a skinny cook" - used to be my fallback. Now, people tell me I've gotten 'too skinny' so I can't really use that anymore. Although I'm far from skinny, I'm just not what I used to be, which was just plain obese. Now I'm just a bit chunky. lol.

@DogFacedPonySoldier None of us are what we used to be. Used to say how I didn't have to faster than the bear, just you. Now I remind them that old age and treachery wins everytme.

texastweeter I used to coach swimming. I would make my swimmers do hypoxic exercises, and I would tell my swimmers, breathing is over rated. My swimmers eventually bought into it, but at first they looked at me with eyes that just did not understand my cruelty, but they came around.

My kegals are doing just fine. I hike with the dogs a couple of miles every day at 9000ft elevation. Love it when flat landers show up during tourist season and pass out.

At 9k, I'd pass out walking to the kitchen!

I actually walked what, like 1/4 mile from the ATV parking area to the lake when we went to Goose Lake, which I think is around 10 or 11k? That was a wake up call!

Congrats on the cook, that is more rewarding of an award than the judges. Old buddy is from Lamar, didn't realize they had a competition down there.

KCBS for 20yrs. As far as I can tell, it is the longest running comp in CO.
