End of 2023 Contest Year

I haven't cooked competition much this year, but I sure went out with a BANG! this past weekend! I cooked 2 contests in October. Hog Wild in Sheridan, AR is a KCBS. I got first call with a 10th in chicken -- nothing else. Did end up with an 11th place rib! It was exciting because 8 Arkansas competitors topped 700 in the top 10 finishers.

This past weekend was a BCA contest that was only 10 miles from the house! That's half chicken, spare ribs and brisket. 26 teams, just like Sheridan. Heavy participation out of Louisiana, but that's expected. Texas folks stayed home. Got a money call in Chicken, final table (11th) in ribs and nada in brisket. That was enough to win the Local Legend category for best in the county! Nice way to end the year.

4 categories where the highest score is 180 (that's perfect!). Total of the 4 category scores gives the overall tally maximum of 720 (that's 4 perfect scores). To hit above 700, average is a 175 in each of the 4 categories. There may be one or two that hit 700 at a contest, but 8 is a bunch.
