I am considering flying in for this. I know we've got some members in the area, so I thought I'd share this.
Supposedly Jeremy Yoder from Mad Scientist BBQ is going to be there, I know Frank Cox SmokerBuilder is going to be there, bringing along a full-size Smokeslinger pit for people to check out, with live cooking on the pit and snacks for the crowd. These are some cool pits, I got to play with one over the weekend at the Smokeslinger headquarters down in Kaufman, TX. If you've not seen a Smokeslinger, check them out, they're at Smokeslinger.com and are quite impressive. Very versatile cooker, can use charcoal or wood, direct heat, offset style, reverse flow style and now a griddle insert for smashburgers, making bacon, fajitas, cheesesteaks, etc. We did most of these styles over the weekend - they even cooked up some of my personal homemade hot links! lol The full size or mini Smokeslinger is a great, solidly built, versatile backyard pit. And heavy duty as can be, I can vouch for that! Serious quality welds, too.
I'm a fan, if you haven't noticed.
Also... I have it on good authority... that there is going to be *something else cool* that is going to be happening there. I'll have more info after the fact, hopefully I'll be able to make it down there and document things myself, but I don't know. It's kind of a tight window for me, so we'll see.
