I have put the wired end of the probe under the gasketed edge of the cover on my Bronco when i hung food. It wasn't the best solution as it probably had the potential to damage the probe but it worked. I just had to reposition it whenever I opened the cover.
I was not able to return to this question as soon as I would have liked. My laptop puked and everything from it is gone.
I do not have a Joetisserie but want to know I can do what I want to before I actually buy one.
The idea of leaving it suspended from or wedged under the lid triggered another idea. I could use a metal clip made to hold a temp probe at the top of a sauce pan. I can find one with enough extra material to reform it so it could fit between the lower section of ceramic shell and the underside of the Joetisserie. The probe would then be held in relatively free air.
The ambient air reading of a Meater probe is not enough to control the (Auber or RFX) fan properly. They use a hard wired pit temp probe to trigger the control of the fan.

KitchenAid 7-qt Pro Line stand mixer
A Black & Decker food processor that I can't seem to murder
A couple of immersion blenders, one a "consumer" model & the other a "high end" Italian thing. Yes, the Italian one is a bit better, but only marginally

Knives range from Mercer to F. Dick to "You spent how much for one knife? One knife?!" LOL
Many many years ago I picked up on of these to use with my wired probes. I just use a length of double sided Velcro to fasten my ThermoQ to the handle side of the rotisserie and let it spin. I was able to use both ambient & food probes that way.
