AITA for Keeping my Primo XL?

So, after weeks on Facebook marketplace, I had a serious buyer ready to have my Primo XL. After cooking ribs and pulled pork shoulder on it for July 4th, I decided that I can’t part with it. Am I the asshole? If I am, is it okay to be that way because it’s a great cooker??
I think it is a syndrome we have not identified yet. I think it might be called “can’t part with cooker syndrome!”

I think as long as you clearly explain to the buyer that you changed your mind and it has nothing to do with him or her, it might be an awkward situation, but it is fine. And, presumably, if you decide to sell again, make sure to save the buyer’s info for a quick sale.

Yes, you are but that doesn't matter. Keep it and accept your status. You will get over being an AH long before you would get over parting with the Primo.

So, to be clear, we never set a day or time for him to come over. Also, he would not commit to my asking price until he saw the grill. (Not unreasonable). So I guess I can live with myself!

Personally, I feel if you give your word that something is for sale and you get an offer you should follow through. ESPECIALLY if you were at the part where they were making travel/pick up plans. Now if you didn't get to that part, and you didn't say "it's all yours" then it's all yours still and you can withdraw the ad without feeling bad.

I know its financially stupid, but if it was me and I promised the buyer it was theirs I'd follow through on the sale to keep my word and then buy a new cooker even if it was the same model. But more likely I'd buy a different color or if there are options I'd get a different optioned one, something to help me not feel so dumb

When it comes to personal sale ads (FB Marketplace, Craigslist, etc), nothing is set until cash is in hand. Unless he is at your door, or maybe on his way to your door, you're good.

Agreed. We have had so many buyers promise to show up and take items and just flake on us, I would also not feel too bad about it. There are many folks out there that simply don’t care about the other party involved at all.

Naw. You can change your mind, and the potential buyer can find another cooker. C'est la vie.

I just assume everyone on marketplace is going to be an asshole. Sadly I'm right more than I'm wrong.

As long as no money has changed hands you are fine. But you are definitely an asshole 😂
