Kamado Joe at Costco: Are there meetings for MCS?

$964 at the roadshow, presumably clearing out that old stock with the KJ III in full production now.

First time I’ve actually gotten to see one in person & man this thing is as sweet as advertised. Air lift hinge really can be controlled with a finger, the divide & conquer is brilliant, the easy ash removal, the obvious attention to detail & quality of the construction. The slow-roller works but not 100% apparently but I doubt anybody outside a laboratory could tell. All the accessories you need to start cooking that night. I mean shoot the guy was even throwing in a free cover with every purchase. The classic 18 was bigger than I expected & the 24in looked like you could use it as a water heater for an apartment complex in a pinch.

I hope somebody convinces me not to get it, cause at the moment my wife stabbing me seems like a fair trade to get this thing on my back porch cooking.

Just kidding about the wife she’s amazing and she leaves the money to me & assumes I know what I’m doing. Which is fair, because as of today the State of Tennessee agrees and let me put CPA after my name. (Sorry for the minor brag, still hard to believe I’m done, took 8 months of working my *** off)

But seriously, should I hold out till Black Friday? I’m assuming I could scoop one up for much cheaper then? Is there someplace I should be looking for a good deal on these? Should I wait till Black Friday and get a KJ III? (<- that’s a joke, don’t start trying talking to talk me into it because I’ll definitely listen and probably talk myself into it.)

I bought my Classic II at a Costco clearance center brand new in the box for almost half price. I wasn't even thinking of getting one until I saw this deal. I'd seen them in Cabela's and always thought they were pretty cool. You'd like it, It's a fun versatile cooker.

What’s a Costco Clearance Center? Is this a separate store or something y’all have out West cause you’re closer to HQ? Or is there a section or event I’m missing in the regular store?

It is a separate facility. There is only one in Utah I don't know I about other states.

Congratulations on becoming a licensed CPA!

You could wait until Black Friday to buy it somewhere else, but you would be missing out on Costco's excellent return policy should anything go wrong with it. And, Costco's roadshows are usually (atleast here in the Pacific NW) pretty competitive in pricing. Also, if you are an Executive member then you get 2% back from that purchase too

      Thanks!

I’ve got the Costco credit card too, so I’d save an additional $40. If I keep saving all this money I’ll be broke. 😂

I've owned a KJ classic for 4 years. It's a great smoker and grill. Like most other things there's a learning curve, but the journey is an enjoyable one. I've had to use the warranty twice. Both times there were no problems at all. There are times I wish I'd bought the 24", but most of the time the one I have is fine. I've not seen the slow roller in person, but the divide and conquer does everything I need. You're going to be amazed at how many times you can cook on one load of charcoal. Fortune favors the daring so go for it!

As to your question about meetings for MCS, The Pitmaster Club is the only one I know of. The problem is that nobody here wants to get cured.

AA at a dive bar, but for grills. Meathead should have that added to the banner head.

That’s version I, I’m looking at version II. I’ll have to ponder some more on what the new features are really worth. The new ash system is a biggie for me, I’ve got enough grills that require extra effort to clean out.

I've had my KJ for about 8 years, bought back when they only had the one model and before some of the improved standard features. I've added the divide and conquer for the versatility, fine tool. If I had to say what I appreciate most it's the lifetime warrantee, and they're good about it, though maybe just a tad slow in fulfillment. Earlier this year the original fire box on mine split (finally?). All I had to do was take some pictures, fill out their online form and submit. They approved replacement within 24 hours, however it took about a month for the replacement to arrive. Good news though was they sent the newer design multi-piece firebox that will expand and contract lessening greatly the likelihood of cracking again. Quality company selling quality goods.

If nothing else pick up a couple bags of the Kamado Joe Big Block XL lump charcoal if they have it. When have seen the Kamado Joes at Costco they have had some nice big bags of that for a decent price. Some of the biggest pieces of lump I have seen. I think they are 30 pound bags for $22 or so???

I did before I bought the grill. Should have grabbed a couple more, it’s really good stuff.

They are great grills/smokers. I would pick that baby up in a second. KJ stand behind their stuff and I love my Kamado Joe Jr.

The Joetisserie & DoJoe are on the wish list but need to space the purchases out a bit.

                @hogdog6

                Heading home with it now.

Apparently according to my wife I deserve it and it makes more sense to go tonight so I can start cooking on it tomorrow.

                Lol

Can’t wait to get this thing set up and seasoned

ETA: above that my wife said just go get it already

Glad you are temporarily cured of MCS. I think you will have fun with your new addition being cured for a while, but MCS is a re occurring disease.
