Seems like the would consider an oblong shape. I wonder why they haven't done that? I envision a kamado shaped like a PK Grill.

WOW! KJ is definitely in the forefront of innovation... but they are quickly taking the lead in cost as well. Will be interesting to see how this plays out for them.

Wow, that's more than double what I gave for my KJ classic. The upper temp limit shown there is 750 F. I can't recall any upper temp limit mentioned when I bought mine. When I clean mine it easily goes to 900 F. It comes out really clean. There's no redline on the temp gauge. Do any of you let yours get that hot.

I confess, there are a lot of things that I dont know about.......... yes I said it..........but I would like to know what you can do on a $2400 grill that you cant do on a $150 grill. I spent $700 on my GMG but think I may have learned enough here that I could have accomplished about the same thing with my original gaser and a smoking tube.
Also, I am not ready to bury my wonderful wife. If I said I was going to spend $2400 for a grill, she would die laughing.

I would argue, a lot. But that argument has been beat to death on just about every product in the industry. And its no longer worth it. That being said, There is a HUGE difference in quality. A KJ is far better than any $150 Grill. As a Backwoods Cabinet Smoker is FAR better than a Dyno Glo or a Brinkmann. Not to mention warranty and customer service.

scottranda - KJ worked with some of the folks that were Harvard engineering students that were on the team that designed the grill mentioned in this article in Wired a few years ago - https://www.wired.com/2015/07/high-tech-bbq/
Will it be a complete game changer? Probably not. Will it lessen the hot spots that kamados often have? Possibly, probably.
