Is it a disadvantage to wrap the two split heat deflectors in aluminum foil before I start a cook on my KJ Classic? I find it helps with clean up after the cook. I am just concerned that wrapping in foil may effect my cook or harm the deflectors in some way. What does everyone think? Thanks in advance......The Duck

The first use I did not, which made them filthy. I keep them wrapped up now. Can't imagine any disadvantage to doing so.

Add me to the wrapped deflector camp. I didn't the first use, and got a lot of crud on them. Sure you can burn it off with high heat, but its easier and conserves fuel if you just wrap in foil.

Don’t see any disadvantages, but I’m not bothered by gunk on mine. I just turn the hunky side down before the next burn. Gets them clean enough for me until the next high heat clean burn.
