I currently have a Grilla Pellet Smoker, looking at purchasing a used Broil King Keg locally (asking $300) for something new to try this summer. What are your thoughts on it? Good, Bad, etc... This is the older model version without the ash catch tray.

Kamado Joe Big Joe III, PKGO, PK300, Jumbo Joe and PBC. Weber kettle @ the hunting camp.
My complaint about my old one(back when it was known as Bubba Keg), is they were too efficient. Hard to get temp down. I loved the portability and ruggedness of it. It served me well on many tailgates.

It was a decent rig for me for a while. If you keep it out of the weather and keep the ash out of it, it will last a while. Rust, became the enemy for mine. It lasted me about 4-5 years in MN. The gasket wore out fairly quickly, so it tended to leak and hard to control because of the air leaks. So I replaced it with a felt gasket, and that seemed to help.
It rusted around the dampers, then it began to seep inside the body walls, from the rivets that were holding the gasket in place. That was the end. I took it out in glorious fashion with about 5 lbs of tannerite.

I now have ceramic kamados and I would not go back to metal versions, be it Broil King Keg, Weber, Or acorn.
It was a good rig to learn on and at $300 that’s not a terrible deal. But I’d save the cash and look for an Egg or a KJ on Market place or Craig’s List

Had one for about 10 years, after Bubba Keg version.. Fired it up about 3-4 times a week year round! Replaced gasket once wilth felt. Very efficient, good coal miser (lump), I had no complaints but i never do long 8hour plus cooks. Pizzas, roasts, ribs, etc.. If it's in good shape I'd go for it!
