    Egg Head help

my first Akorn cook is one of the best cooks I have done inspite of my Inexperience. You can read what I did on the post before this one I thought I aced it 🧐. I was putting a way my cooker and this is what I found. Pulled my pizza stone and look in side my Smoke Pot And Expected to see charcoal and what I got was a pot of uncooked wood which was a blessing because the smoke profile was perfect for my families Taste and Guest. The cooker held perfect temps all day 10 hr cook. Was starting to fall right at the end of the cook🤓. The burn patern was from the center of the grill to seven o clock it burned a little over 2 handfuls of lump. I think I need to start fire off center about two o clock and set smoke pot with 🔥 a round pot front of pot here is a couple photos of cook. Charcoal bed was about 3” deep to start with. During burn in smoke pot made perfect charcoal. Had the smoke pot had work like it did the day before would have had to much smoke

That’s one of the great things about good kamodos, they’re efficient. I have a large BGE so I just put the smoking wood on the lump once it’s going good. When you’re done cooking and close the air and chimney off it snuffs out the fire. I often pull partial pieces of unused smoke wood out after it cools off. My longest cook has been 15 hours without adding lump. Enjoy!

I loosely wrap wood chunks in foil and space them along the burn path. I get fresh lump inside the foil the next day. I have not tried a smoke pot yet but I thought it needed holes drilled in it?

@Fire Ant My smoke pot on my BGE always turns the wood to charcoal. The bure patter varies from cook to cook, but most often burns to the back of the cooker. Attjack my record on one load of charcoal is 22 hours.

At 22 hours I had little charcoal left, but that was with 40# Boston Butt. I tested a new charcoal with nothing in the BGE and it was at the 58 hour mark when I went to bed at 10 pm and was all burned in the morning.
