It looks like BGE is trying to keep up with the Primo features. Nothing wrong with that. Steal with pride I own a BGE myself, and the stuff they're are introducing now are needed.

About time. I feel like BGE sat back and let the others catch up. With that kind of market share, innovation can become stagnant. Good to see they have more stuff in the works.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I do love my Egg!!
I have wondered why no one has ever revived the ''Christmas Tree'' Charcoal insert.
I've been using it for 15 years although I recently bought one of the hew shaker baskets to try out. The new shaker basket is going in the shed and the old christmas tree insert is going back in the Egg.
The tree lets me get more charcoal in--helps me control temps better--and lights way faster. Mine is 15 years old and still in as good a shape as when I first put it in.
It isn't made anymore, and I'm wondering why no one has brought it back. It was very popular years ago.
It was made by the original maker of the DigiQ controller WAY back when. It's been a long time ago but when DigiQ was first starting up the old man who invented it became sick and eventually passed away--leaving the company to be taken on by someone else. (And that is with a barely remembered outline of events that my wife and I tried to piece together.? We both BELIEVE it was DigiQ, and we have one of the original controllers so we are fairly certain.)
It is laser cut stainless steel, and kind of flimsy looking but actually very well made and like new after 15 plus years of constant use.
I'll try to get some pics posted if I can get them off my phone.
Edited to include....We are fairly sure it was DigiQ that brought it out as we purchased the tree, controller, and charcoal trash can/shaker all at the same time.

I really like that setup. Being able to slide racks and be able to remove the platesetter and grates all in one swoop is very attractive. I like that new damper system too, although the rain cap part is little cheezy. I think I would rather stay with my stainless cap. Those new nests and grilling centers are really sweet too.
These seem to be some great upgrades and they have me looking. Now, how much is BGE is looking for us to shell our for all of this?
I remember you talking about that, Skip. Just curious how close that set up is to the one from the Ceramic Grill Store. ( I know they don't sell that custom angle-iron base you have!)
LA PORK BUTT.
Here you go.
It is approximately 8'' tall and 8'' in diameter.
it is symmetrical even though the pictures don't look like it.
It REALLY shines for the high temp cooks--works way better than the Kick Ash Basket i bought. It will go back in this weekend and stay there.
Yes. It kind of forms an inverted cone from the bottom up. I believe it gives a better more consistent air flow. My Egg is pretty much set and forget when it is in there. I do kind of have a knack for temps though. Been using the tree and egg combo for a LONG time.
