Do any of you own the Firedial heat diffuser? For those that do, do you clean it? Would it be okay to use oven cleaner the way it can be used on cooking grates? I'm afraid it could cause a grease fire if not cleaned. Thoughts?

Are you referring to Plate Setters in general or are you referring to a brand? The only ones I am familiar with is what I have in my Kamados.
I use plate setters in all of my cookers. I have used the BGE, Broil King Keg, Kamado Joe Jr. and the Lava Lock setters. They all work great.
I keep mine pretty clean, a foil pan fits perfectly on it, under the grate. To clean it, simply fire up your Kamado or smoker and burn it off, then scrape. It cleans up like new with high heat. I have never had a grease fire on mine, except for when I am burning it out. Never while smoking. It only flares up when the lid is opened at really high heat. That is only when I have not used a foil pan.
I use something similar in my WSM made by Hunsaker called the Vortex plate. It works great and lets me use the smoker like a drum. I hang food and it creates an even heat environment. The drippings hit the plate creating both moisture and flavor. I use a grill brush to scrape it clean after a cook.

Ahhhhh, interesting. I like the idea of this. I have not seen one in use but I bet it would be a huge improvement over the water bowl that comes stock.
If you get one, make sure to post some pictures of it in action. It would be cool to see.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Got a little chuckle out of this part of their description: "Eliminates the need for a messy water pan that's tough to keep full. Much improved smoke and flavor!"
A legit accessory for sure, (and nice styling) but you could always just use your empty water pan (wrapped in foil for cleanup) as the baffle. Harry Soo has been doing that for years.
Actually I don't use anything and have, like Harry Soo, had dozens of successful cooks on my WSMs. It's no different than cooking in a PBC or drum. I think it's just another gimmick to get your money. I actually like the grease hitting my coals, adds to the flavor profile and creates zero mess. You can have the fancy plates and vortexes etc, I don't buy it (literally and figuratively).
If you like the taste profile of fat hitting the fire, then I could see how you would not like this type of accessory. Personally, I find that burned fat taste a bit too much. However, the Hunsaker Vortex plate has a fan design that blocks the fat from hitting the fire and creates an even temp environment and consistent airflow throughout the smoker. Lots of configurations exist and if you like your setup that's great, but mine works really well for me too.
