    Water pan juice disposal ??

Apologies in advance if this has been asked & answered....Operators of WSM, if you use the water pan as I do , what do you do with the pan full of 1/2 H20 & 1/2 grease when the cook is over ?? Invariably i top off the pan an hour before i am done. I always line my pan with foil so final clean up is easy but.... down the sink no, in the toilet , yea, no....I usuall wander off into the woods & dump it but even that seems sort of wrong. open to ideas...

My dogs give me the stink eye if I dump it, but there is nothing wrong with dumping it in the woods, or a hole in the ground somewhere in the yard. I would not put it in any plumbing fixture unless you like clogs and plumbing repairs.

I mix it with charcoal and wood ash then into the curb side service. Unless you separate out the grease and fat, you don't want that going down the drain. Also, I live in bear country so it's not wise to dump it in the woods. I try not to have a buttload of water left at the end of a cook.

Ashes and grease - isn't that the way you make lie soap?

I usually have a plastic gallon milk jug in the recycle bin. I save the lids just for this occasion. Get the widest funnel you have, pour the water/grease in the jug, screw on the lid and it goes in the trash (I don't have mandatory recycling, fwiw).

I dump it into my ash bucket and then the trash. Makes the garbage smell great!

I just dump it in the back yard. And then our dog spends the next week rolling over and squirming his back into it.

Funny, that's the exact same reason that I DON'T dump it in the back yard.

Funny you said that. Right now that's what I do. But than again my neighbor abandoned their house 2 years ago.

Hahaha. I love this idea. I could throw it across the fence into my neighbor's swimming pool...

We have 5 gal floor soap containers with a wide mouth at work. I use these for motor oil too. When full I take to work and empty into the waste oil drum.

              #14
I separate out the water and the grease. The water goes down the drain. The grease goes into a ziplock and into the garbage.

It takes 5 minutes. Not much work at all and I don't have a dog.

I just let it get cold. The grease coagulates, I pour off the water, and throw away the pan and the grease in the garbage.
