I got one of these: https://bbqsmokermods.com/lavalock-t...ain-cover.html. It is silicone coated kevlar and the manufacturer rates it at 500 degrees F. I am concerned that running my WSM 22.5 at 325 might push the coal bed area of the cooker above this rating. It will most likely be in the 30s - 40s temperature wise when I am cooking, so I am sure that will factor into to this. I am considering cutting it shorter so it will not cover the coal bed area of the cooker. Is my concern warranted and should I cut the blanket shorter?
P.S. I just read that it is actually rated at 700 degrees. I got 500 degrees from a phone call I made to another distributor.

You will be just fine. I doubt that metal ever gets over 500 F In the bottom.
Honestly, with the temps in the 30's and 40's, you really don't need a thermal blanket. I wait until it is below zero, before I break out the welding blanket for insulation.
I'm with Spinaker on this. Needs to get real, real cold to be worrying about a thermal blanket. Last winter at 10 degrees above zero I wrapped my PBC in a welding blanket for a massive rib cook and it just about turned the PBC into a Saturn V rocket.
