I have been lying in wait for a discount the last few months. I want to pull a trigger on a WSM but nothing yet. Is there a time frame I should keep an eye on?

I'm sure others will chime in shortly, but I have been patiently waiting for the past 15 years or so. From my experience, WSM is one of the Weber products have never been able to catch on "clearance" since they never go on sale. Just my experience. -
My experience is that sale pricing on any Weber smokers or grills only happens at end of summer, when hardware and big box stores are clearing out excess inventory. The local Home Depot still has a Genesis II E-410 on sale for $699, and the Performer Premium for $225. Those were the ONLY things on sale though, and its not advertised. I've yet to ever see a WSM on sale anywhere.
You may want to scour your local Facebook marketplace and Craigslist sites. There is a guy selling a new never used WSM 22" near me for $325, which is only $74 less than the retail price.Comment

I agree - they don't go on sale at a national level, or within a chain. The only sale you'll catch is on local inventory - the only thing you can do is keep stopping in and looking.
Most CL listers want close to market for Webers. It's rare that someone doesn't know Weber values but it happens. Just search on Weber & Smoker every couple days.Comment

Thank you for the information. I was hoping to get a better idea. I already checked the Facebook market place and stuff like that. Now that I know there isn't much of a discount. I will save my pennies more then grab one.Comment

My local bbq/landscape retailer does a spring sale every year where the whole inventory is 10% off, so I got my WSM at a discount there several years ago. You might look for similar seasonal or one-day type sales in your area.Comment

I've seen them 14 inch ones on sale at this time of the year at Walmart for half price but my locals aren't carrying them this year for whatever reason.Comment

I just bought my WSM 22.5 for $200 off at home depot. They had a few different floor models (genesis, performer and a few other different brands) on clearance to make room for the Halloweeen props.Comment

I would check Craigslist. Not sure where you're located, but there are currently some new in the box 18.5" WSM's for under $200 in the Cincinnati area.Comment

Weber has a deal with retailers that sets a minimum price on the their grills. That is why they pretty well have the same price between dealers.
That being said you won’t see a sale price on Weber’s in any sort of publication, promotion, etc....
The only way to really find a deal on them is if a store has a floor model they are trying to get rid of or maybe they are liquidating some inventory. Your best bet may be to stop by your local big box stores and just ask for a deal on a floor model or ask them to let you know if and when they would like to sell it. I found a couple of 18 inch models at Walmart for a nice price one time but they were ones they had already assembled and had been setting outside and they were just trying to get rid of them in late fall.Comment

I’ve never seen a WSM on sale...lots of Genesis & Spirit grills...but never a WSM. Best bet is to check as many local stores as possible...seeing as Weber seems to have a MAP policy with their dealers.Comment

Ace hardware ran a promo online this past spring for a free 20lb bag of charcoal when I bought my kettle. The way I see it, that effectively works out to a 5-10 percent discount. I searched Craiglist and retailers for deals for a few weeks but no luck.Comment
