Does anyone wrap the charcoal catcher and the bottom of the smoker below the vents in tin foil for easy cleanup? Does it affect temp? I am using WSM 14.5.
I have the 14.5 and never do that. This thing is super easy to clear the ash. Remove the ring and the charcoal grate. Take a plastic grocery bag and kind of "attach it to a side" and tilt in the ash. Easy peasy.
I don't foil the catcher, just the water pan (a must!) Are you getting a lot of grease in your catcher or are you just trying to simplify ash clean up?
