    First Cook on PBJ

Last Friday, Nov 13 I received my PBJ from the FedEx truck and decided to cook Saturday. The weather was not ideal for outdoor cooking in South East Wyoming but I had a new cooker and I was going to use it. The wind was a little stronger than expected, 58 mph with gusts to 74 and temp around mid 30's, but I was determined to use this new cooker. After finding a location out of the wind to light my charcoal and not start the whole neighborhood on fire I was ready to cook. One turkey breast and one whole chicken both rubbed with Simon and Garfunkel rub and hanged from the poultry hangers. Due to the current weather conditions I did not setup the temperature probes for pit or meat. I adjusted the air inlet according to the directions, turned the barrel to face away from the wind and let the cooker do its thing. Checked the temp of the meat after 2 hours in the barrel and again after 3 hours. Pulled the birds and tented them while I prepared the fixing to go with the Kentucky hot browns we made with the turkey. All in all I am extremely impressed with the PBJ. The weather conditions would make any type of outdoor cooking a challenge. The Hot Browns were excellent and the chicken when into a rice soup the next day.

Glad to hear your first experience was successful! Just so you know, we love pictures! Pictures of your cooker, the food from cooker, your dog, cat, just about anything!

Awesome! And to think you did all of that in those weather conditions is no joke, man. That is crazy.

      Stay warm......and grounded!
