I get this burnt ends thing now

I love doing ribs and pork butts in the PBC but had been looking for an opportunity to do a brisket. Went to Kroger this weekend to get a pork butt and i see brisket for $1.99. I couldn't pass that up (it was obviously a sign). It was the first time i have cooked a brisket and decided i was going to take the point for burnt ends. I see people posting about them often, but i had never had them before. When i sliced the point it was already looking pretty good, but after i sauced them an put them back on the PBC for a little while... MIND BLOWN. I couldn't stop eating them the rest of the afternoon. My wife who isn't normally a big meat eater kept going after them too. The flat was a little drier than i would have wanted but still passable for a first attempt. Definitely something i would do again (and again). Thanks for all the knowledge shared in The Pit, this is definitely something I'm glad i tried.

Looks really great and you got a great deal on the brisket. Dryish flat happens and you can always fix with jus or bbq sauce. Nice going!

Looks great, making me hungry! I have a chuck roast to try the faux burnt ends, can’t wait. Next brisket I’ll try doing the point.

Looks good. I also picked up a whole packer from Krogers. I was thinking of splitting the point out for a separate burnt ends cook. At 18lbs, cooking whole will take forever. Hopefully, mine turn out as good as yours looks.

Smoke the point and corn the flat is my usual formula. You've inspired me to try burnt ends the next time.
