    Airtight Lid Modification

After 3 cooks, lid still not sealed even using Pam each time so I made some modifications to help thing along. 4 clamps, Lava Lok seal and high temp silicone to keep air out and sticky rubber pads to keep the lid untouched. Makes it airtight and easier for the Signals/Bellows combo to do it's thing. $40 well spent!

Excellent! To paraphrase NASA, "You Sir are a steely-eyed PBC Man!"

    Nice mod!

Personally, I like to put weight on the lid, a brick on each side works just fine.

Mark, I'm interested in your usage of the Signals/Bellows contraption. If you would care to, I would like to hear more. In particular, how do you stop up (when needed) the holes up top the rebar runs through or do you need to? How does the temp control work out on the PBC? Any comments would be welcome and thanks!

You can always use foil on the rebar to plug the holes if need be. You want the Billows to be the number one source for air. They are a forced air system.

The temp control works quite well with the PBC, when you can seal things up well. I used foil on the rebar holes also. When using only 1 rebar, fitted diagonally in the holes, I use round rare earth magnets to seal the other 2 holes... Works well. I ordered the square metal adapter designed for the BGE. Sealed with high temp foil tape. The only issue was the Bellows didn't want to sit level at the 3 - 9 position, so I cut 2 slits with a grinder wheel and now it locks in place nicely.

I'd say you've got that PBC sealed up nicely, between your lid mods and your mod for the Bellows, Mark Williams .

Let us know how that rascal cooks now.

Holding steady around 225 for 3+ hrs on a couple of bacon wrapped pork tenderloins with the Signals & Bellows 😎 and sealed up tightly!

Hi Mark, new PBC owner here. What are those clamps called? Are they a standard type of clamp I can find at my local Ace Hardware store?

Wedunne I got them in Amazon, not sure of the name but they work great. Put thick felt or gasket material where the clamp touches the lid so you don't scratch it up

Donw Wedunne Yes, those are the clamps I used. Only needed 2 screws per clamp, even tho there are 4 holes.
