Ham & Cheese Puff Pastry on PBC

I’m always looking for reasons to loop my kiddo in on some outdoor cooking, and she saw a video on the PBC website she thought looked good "but with ham instead of salami and American cheese instead of pepper jack and I don’t want that pepper jelly stuff bleh." 🙄

So while I had the PBC firing up she put together our dinner (with the mutt carefully eyeballing her cuz that little person drops things a lot).

Not not bad at all considering it started out with the pastry puff cut into two very different shapes and sizes.

The recipe said roughly 30 min but I’m sure glad I checked at 15 min.

It was actually quite a tasty little thing (we ate all but one bite saved for my wife), and she wants to do it again so... score.

WOW! Very nice! Never thought about doing anything like that in my PBC, not even pizzas but that shows pizzas may work just fine!

What temp did you get to in the PBC?

JimLinebarger thanks! I didn’t bother to monitor it on this cook. I figured, and confirmed in the video, we just had to give it all she had. Lit it with my usual 15/10/10 method and left both rebar out and the lid cracked.

That is so cool. We used to do similar things like pigs in a blanket (little wieners wrapped in puff pastry). Teach your children well !!!

Outstanding. Passing knowledge and love onto our children is why we exist.

Makes me wish we had kids instead of time, money, and things.

Oh, I loved it so much when my dad and I did things like this. The guys are right -- your little sweetie will remember experiences like this for the rest of her life.

When my two younger brothers got old enough, Dad focused more on doing things with them and less on me. But the moments I did have with him are golden.

Good point... her spatula tongs arrived this week (she has trouble flipping burgers over the heat, figured they’d help, uh oh is right)

What a wonderful post, FishTalesNC , and such a sweet photo of your little chef. She will treasure these times, as will you. Plus memories like this help us get through our kids' teen years.

Oh geeze. Those years. Doing it again right now. One more to go besides. 4outta five ain’t bad. Although the 31 year old seems to digress.
