I've got a horizontal offset, and with 22 x 34 of usable main grate, 8 butts is about as far as I can push it (I did cram 12 up against each other once), and I am more comfortable with 6, due to higher temperatures near the firebox. You would need a second level rack to get more butts into a 3 foot offset. You will want at least a 48" long offset if you go that route I think.

I was looking at popular cabinet charcoal smokers like the G2 Chubby, and even that just says 4 to 6 Boston butts or briskets in the capacity chart.

Take a look at Grilla too if you start considering pellet smokers. They have a handy capacity chart here:

Agree. I have the Chubby G2 and love it. You could push more but a comfortable arrangement would be 9 racks, 6 briskets or 4 butts. Recommend, as RonB says, looking at the Extended Party.

If you run a kamado like the 24" Weber Summit Charcoal Grill plus the PBC with pork butts on the grate, you could get 6 butts smoking (or 8 with a second rack on the WSCG).

I often run my PBC and my WSCGC at the same time. It's a glorious smoking day when that happens! So much fun.
