    Sold my PBC

I really love the PBC. Enjoy cooking with it, enjoy playing around with the Pitmaster IQ 110, and really did enjoy the end products I create. The PBC, however, just had more capacity than what I needed. We are down to 3 at home with my better half not fond of ribs or a lot of experiments with meat. She's really picky about fat on meat, the color of the meat(despite it being cooked to ideal temp), etc. Also, I keep my PBC in the garage so carrying that 60 lb beast around the house for each cook was a pretty good workout.
The big boss at work was looking at getting into BBQ with one of his neighbors and started talking to me a couple months ago about the PBC and Gateway Drum Smokers. We talked a few times and he hadn't made any moves so on a whim I texted him last weekend a price for my PBC. About 10 minutes later I thought 'WTH have I done'. That night he texted back 'Sold!'. I again thought 'WTH have I done.' About 10 seconds after that I remembered the PBJ. It still has plenty of capacity, more than I need, uses less fuel, AND weighs 20 less lbs! I go on summer fishing trips with my dad and younger son and now have the idea that the PBJ will be exactly what I want.
So now I'm excited to get the PBC sold and get the PBJ. Wife said I have to get the C sold before I buy the J. Anticipating the buy is a bulk of the fun anyway.
Here's to new adventures in 2018.

I'm in close to the same situation. With one off to college, we're down to three in the household and my wife isn't a fan of huge hunks of meat. For us, the 14" drum was the right decision. I can do a dinner for a dozen in a pinch, but I'm also not reticent about firing it up for just one chicken. I think smaller drum cookers fill a nice niche.

Nice! Sometimes adjustments are necessary, and seems like you've made the right decision.

I seem to never sell anything. I keep or give away.

Got a PBJ for Christmas. The portability was the main factor and it still will turn out more than we can imagine for 2-6 or so people. Using less charcoal is also a plus. Also think it can be more versatile than it is given credit for.

Yeah, I've been following your other posts seeing how things go. I'm pretty excited to get things going.

I'm in the same boat. When i cook I tend to "multi-task". For example, Wednesday I'm having friends over for dinner. I'm serving tri-tip. Short cook as I bring them to about 125 and then reverse sear them (not on the PBC). So I'll hang a chuckie to start things off and add the tri-tips at the appropriate time for dinner. The chuckie should be well along by then, and when it's done I'll hang a chicken or two. I like to have the shredded beef around for stuff like tacquitos, tacos, enchiladas, chili (you name it), and the chickens for the same purposes. When I do cook small amounts (and I do frequently) I just put a divider in the basket and limit the amount of briquettes. The Jr is interesting but I'm gonna wait until I kill my current PBC. Since it lives in the garage when not in use that's gonna be a LONG time methinks! Smoke on!

Guy at work kept waiting on having me bring over the PBC. I got a few more cooks in while I was waiting on him and started to think to myself "Why am I selling this?" I ended up backing out on selling my PBC a couple weeks ago. So I'll be "stuck" with my regular size PBC for a while. Such a bummer.

phoccer Lots of suspense for those of us reading this thread. I feel better knowing you still have you PBC. I want one someday too. A good read for us. Thanks for posting.

Yay! I was feeling sorry for your PBC for being replaced by a PBWhippersnapper. Hahaha

I'd buy it if you lived here. Put that thing on CL. It will be gone in no time.

Yeah, I'm guessing it will sell quick if you list it on CL or some other site.

Mr. Phoccer, said like a true warrior & gentleman, "why am I selling this"- translated- "I will never give in". MCS does indeed contain the word More in it. You done good there fella. As CandySueQ said once upon a time (I’m guessing cuz I wasn’t there) “I’ll just build a bigger shed. Tell yer wife that when you consider the Jr. & don’t forget to tell her that her feet sure look purdy in those shoes of hers. Ya done good!
