    surreal moment

I had an old Weber 22 kettle given to me a couple of years ago and it's been laying around at the shop, so today I decided to clean it, went and got a razor blade holder and lots of blades and as I am finishing it up I look up and ash is starting to accumulate in the bottom from the fires here in Santa Rosa. Hope things get back to normal soon

Just wow!! As we in Ca don't understand Nor'easter I'm not sure the gravity has hit the rest of the country. Out SoCal blaze was minute in comparison and my pool filters were loaded with ash. You have hundreds still missing. Be safe brother.

a lot of the missing are from downed cell phone towers and dead cell phones, they are finding a lot of them

This is terrible. A guy goes on vacation and comes home to a state on fire. My thoughts are with all of those adversely affected. Stay safe.

Wish you the best. One part of the country is underwater while the other is on fire.

Troutman, that would be Spirit from 12 Dreams of Dr. Sart-something or other. One of my favorites still.

Well i got to the OBR site in Santa Rosa on Sunday late morning and started helping out with the smokers, we did 500 lbs of chicken thighs that afternoon and then prepped over 150 pork buts to cook over night for Monday, came back Monday morning and helped shred them, also did a bunch of whole chickens, lots of veggie dishes as sides in the smokers, at some point we did a bunch of pork loin for getting sliced and put with a mushroom sauce, days kind of ran together and were pretty busy, the numbers started to drop of and we were using a lot of stuff that we had already cooked that was in the refer trailer, Wednesday was the last night we cooked and broke camp down on Thursday Made some great friends and would do this again in a heartbeat, a lot of hard work but watching the people's faces when you hand them hot meals was moving

This is sooo cool that you were able to help out. I would love to be able to do this in my area. In Minnesota, thankfully, we don't really have massive natural disasters, other than the occasional flood. I was talking with smokinfatties a while back and we were considering flying down to Houston to help out back when they were deployed there. I would love to do this someday.
Thank you for helping to spread the BBQ love to those in need. Really cool.
