Putting together a PBC tips sheet

There is a ton of great information in these forums and I've learned tips and ideas from various posts. Feel free to leave any comments here or at the end of the post. All comments welcome, even if you disagree with some of the info in the list. I'd like to make this a reference anyone could use. It isn't meant to be a comprehensive list but more of a short tips and tricks sheet. If there is already something in the forum, just point me too it. Yes, that is an AWESOME thread and I've read it a couple times. Thought I'd try to condense some of those ideas into a tip sheet as that thread takes a while to get through

I don't have a PBC, but I suggest putting the open end pointing up.

phoccer As a newbie to the PBC (4 cooks under my belt) I'll definitely be checking out the tip sheet. Thanks for posting this.

        Very useful, clear, an' concise!
        Nice work, phoccer !!!
Might I suggest removin' th' "either" from yer 2nd sentence, or providin' it with an "or" ???
Keeps ya' soundin' 'brainier', that way!

JeffJ If you haven't yet, take the time to read the thread Spinaker linked to. It's a long but excellent thread started by fzxdoc covering a ton of informtion. You may find other hints and ideas in there that won't make it onto this tips sheet. I just wanted to cover some of the basic highlights of running a PBC and am certainly not trying to cover every potential issue people may run into as that's what this PBC forum is here to cover.

Meathead wrote up a nice PBC Tips article a few months back, phoccer . You may want to take a look at it as well.
