Well gang, our new PBC should be here bout any day now....oh the anticipation!!! Anyhoo, been pretty busy getting moved into our new home, as our old place is about to become yet another condo complex, go figure. Cynthia has been busy inside mostly while me and the kids been busy outside with gardening, topping and pruning existing trees (can't help it, horticulture major). Getting there, and distracts us from the anxiety of finally setting our eyes on our PBC at delivery. Thought we might share some pics & our life with all of you whom we already learned so much from. Feels kinda like our extended family!!! Oh, and I saved some Guava wood after pruning, thinking bout drying it for bout 6 months and giving it a try on the PBC. Guava and Acacia is widely available here and used throughout the country. I've never personally used guava wood for smoking, and curious if any of you have?I ask, coz getting, hickory, oak, pecan, etc. here is pretty expensive. Mango is also widely available, but folks seem to be split 50/50 on whether it's even safe.

Hahaha...ya not sure what happened. Tho I did just get a message from my freight forwarder that all 4 shipments would be in the Port of Manila on the 29th. Then of course thru customs, etc. So usually bout 10 days after clearing customs, it will arrive at our house. Ugg...but the upside is we have a window to get the backyard whipped into shape and ready to put that PBC to work!!!

The local Ace Hardware store normally has the KBB in stock and I just bought 4 bags in anticipation of the PBC arrival. But I noticed they have changed the net weight from about 18lb to 15lb approximately, but the price is still the same, go figure. The locally made charcoal here is far less expensive than KBB and I've used it for years out at the farm, so it might be something I ought to at least try a few dry runs with on that PBC. Oh and we found out why the PBC is late getting here......random US Customs inspections for outbound cargo, but should be at Manila Port now.

Thanks for the additional info, slopoke76. I seem to recall that when Kingsford first went to the 18lb bags they said that due to their new formulation you'd still get the same number of briquets and the same amount of cook time as with the heavier charcoal (20 lb bags). Haven't heard about 15 lb bags though.

The bag size varies depending on store so you must be aware of that when pricing.

Sprinkles!! I eat them out the container, makes for a mighty blue tongue with NO relation to Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease.

...Or blue popsicle disease, Jerod Broussard . Hahaha.
slopoke76 , nice looking cook and cake too. The kids should be proud of that cake! Hope the PBC is on your doorstep tomorrow.
