I have seen comments on the B&B products for PBC. Any advantage? I have both briquettes and char-logs at my local Wal-Mart.

B&B briquettes

I like the way they put off so little of that white some associated with charcoal lighting. They seem to be plenty hot and last. I just bought a bag of the competition logs, but haven't opened it yet so can't comment on those. But the briquettes are now my go to choice for long cooks, where some are always in the stage of lighting.

Just for starting, or the whole coal bin?

The whole bin. It works somewhat like a "fuse burn". Some are lighting, some are already lit, and some are burning out constantly, as the fire moves from one side of the bin to the other. B&B seems to burn cleaner, so I use it for those long cooks where the above happens over a LONG period of time.

Also, just for comparison, fill a chimney with Blue Bag, or whatever you use and pay attention to how much white smoke is put off as it lights up. Then do it with B&B. Huge difference!! Not sure if it is "less" or "better" binders in the coal, or what. Stubbs is all natural binders, and smokes crazy like compared to B & B.

B & B Briquets are my total "go to" unless I am doing a quick grill or just doing ribs in the Pit Barrel Cooker.
The price on the competition logs caused my buggee to turn itself at Academy.
