Except for a five slc rack cook I did in early January, things have been kind of quiet. However as it's 50 degrees here in the greater Boston area, ones thoughts go to the stuff cryovac'ed in the freezer. In any event I found myself at Lowe's trying to find a replacement dimmer switch since the one in my dining room died out... and of course I had to wander by the bbq aisle, so I could sneer at the cheap smokers and whatnot. I then saw these bags of Kingsford Long Burning charcoal next the the usual blue stuff. I've never seen that stuff before and while I've been using the so called professional charcoal in my weber for grilling and thought hmmm... I wonder if long burning my have some advantage in the trusty PBC... so the question goes out there... anyone try that? The main reason I'm asking is that the rib cook I did in January seemed to go very quickly as far as the charcoal was concerned. I was very out of practice of course and had to crack the lid alot.... but it seemed that the charcoal still went faster than it should have.
