Alright y'all. Fess up. who modified their particular PBC with any electronically controlled temp device and what did you use. I am strongly considering messing around and getting some mods going on my PBC and wanted to get an idea of what works and what does for the PBC in particular.

Air Intake Modifiers and Who uses them

I know some guys use a BBQ Guru. I have a pipe added to mine to hook up an Auber SYL-1615 with a 6.5cfm fan to supplement the intake when multiple chunks of meat stall and cause the temp to drop when cooking overnight.
Other than that I let it run. Today mine got up to 360, I plugged a couple holes, left for a few hours, it was down to 233 when I got back, I opened the holes and got things to stabilize around 260-ish.

I have stacks on mine and I love them. They are great when she's loaded down and really kicking. I don't think the PBC needs an air controller. I've never had the fire snuff out in the PBC.

Jeff_Carley I hear man. We are all always looking for mods and options to make our cooking better and more streamlined. I have stacks on my PBC but they are certainly not a must. (Although they do kick up the bad-assery of the rig!) Yet I am glad I have them. If you find an option that will work.....go for it, brother! Mods are part of what makes this fun!

increased airflow. When its really loaded down, it helps to be able to pull more air throughout the barrel. I like to open them up after i wrap to take it up to 350 F. They are a practical and useful mod. Jeff_Carley

guess I will have to look into that

It's not totally necessary. But its a fun project and welding is always a good time. Jeff_Carley
