    Out of Round PBC Barrel

A few weeks ago while working on the bark on a packer brisket using the grate I almost dumped the whole shebang into the charcoal and finally figured out that the barrel was out of round by close to 1/2". It only has taken me 6 months to figure this out as I rarely use the grate. My simple quick fix was to put a bar clamp across the widest part and work the very top of barrel back into round. It took quite a bit of force as the barrel had a memory. It only took around 15-20 minutes to accomplish the task and there was no damage to the barrel.
Since then I no longer worry about the grate slipping off the pins and there is a lot less leakage around the lid for obvious reasons.
I should mention to use a bar clamp with fixed clamp faces not the ones with swivel faces. Also the diameter is around 20" so you will need a rig big enough to handle that.

I'd contact Noah and have him ship you a new one.

Second generation. I purchased it in April of this year.
It was a pretty fast and easy fix.
I really posted this for other people to possibly see if they have any issues.

Was it like this from the start or did it distort with cooks?

I think it was like this from the start and I just did not notice it as I rarely have used the grate.

I am actually extremely happy with my PBC and for me it was a quick and easy fix. Plus I really do not want to loose the built up flavor enhancement inside of the PBC.

I heard a rumor of a larger PBC......
                Any truth to this?

Intriguing. Although I thought they said the 30 gal. Was the most efficient and easy to run.

Again I'm w/ @ Spinaker, I believe the 30 gal barrel was the magic #. That is what separates pbc from the other uds

The 30 gallon drum is the easiest to use without constant monitoring. We aren't looking at offering a larger size at this point.

Why would you? If it ain't broken, don't fix it. The PBC is a great set and forget rig for busy weekends.
