How many Pork Shoulders on PBC

I have 3 Pork Shoulders (7-8lbs) to do on Saturday for a cookout. I was planning on doing them all on the PBC. I am starting to have second thoughts on if they will all fit. I have done 2 and I thought i could get a third but I was wondering what everyone else thought. Thanks for your help. We have about 30 people coming over for dinner around 5ish.

    You need an extra rebar.

That butt in the back, I've got some hooks that don't bend to the side at the top, they are just straight. That way I won't need an extra rebar, I can just hook to the existing rebar on a butt I hang that way.

Thanks for the picture. Does the rebar need to be treated at all or could I go to hardware store and pick some up there?

I just picked it up. You obviously don't want any greased up stuff.

And that back one is tricky. You'll find out.

Jerod Broussard Why do you tie the pork butts?

So they can ride the whole ride. If I am running 275+ I can get them all to 200+ as is.

I assume that would help give a better bark and smokier flavor?

Yeah, plus I can just take out, wrap, and hold.

I've never done 3 butts, but I've done a butt, a brisket, and 3 racks of ribs. I used a small piece of rebar as well, as Jerod mentioned. That said, when I wrapped the butt and the brisket, they just went into the oven, as I couldn't use the grate with the ribs hanging. I imagine, if you plan to wrap the butts, you may want to the same, as I can't picture 3 butts fitting on the grate.

Yea. I don't think 3 will fit wrapped. I am tossing around the idea of rotissering one on my brinkmann gasser. But would rather not.

If I can hijack / revive a slightly stale thread...

Is there anything to consider in terms of temp management with 2-3 butts? Can I expect the smoker to run a few degrees cooler or anything like that?

Much cooler. And if using Kingsford blue bag, that stuff getting consumed rather quick, especially if you don't wrap at stall.

Thanks Jerod! I do use blue bag so I'll keep that in mind.

Make sure it's not galvanized rebar. Straight rebar. Wash it then cook it on your gasser at high temp
