Go Cubbies! I'll assume your impeccable taste in cookers means you're a Northsider

@MortyNZ---Great to hear about your first cook success with the PBC. Your post made some great observations about the ease of use, and high quality results, on the PBC. Am so happy you are enjoying your PBC!

Would suggest that for anyone (or anyone's SO) who wants to begin pursuit of authentic outdoor smoking and cooking, that a PBC is an awesome place to start. What a great Father's Day gift it would make!

Others have called it "the best chicken cooker on the planet." That' a difficult claim to substantiate, but i think most PBC owners would suggest the PBC belongs in anyone's Top Five.

It is still quite reasonably priced, particularly in regard to it's ability to turn out first-class quality results; cleanup is reasonably easy, (especially if one takes just a little time to line the barrel's base with heavy duty aluminum foil prio to each cook), so I would suggest the PBC easily qualifies for the "What's NOT to like?" category.

Keep that charcoal fire burnin', MortyNZ!

Thank you Sir! Should I be using foil as well as the Ash Catcher accessory?

                        Great stuff.

One piece of advice on the PBC - the amount of briquettes in the basket only impact the length of time not the temp. So if you are cooking ribs, you can use a bit less in the basket, but keep everything else the same (40 lit in the chimney, same burn time etc). For really short cooks like wings or steaks, I only use maybe 10-15 briquettes in the baskets. I don’t like re-using coals so try not to overfill based on the expected length of cook.

That's great advice, thank you. I normally reuse briquettes when I'm making burgers or steaks, as they seem fine for a short sharp cook, but I agree they don't work so well for low/slow temp maintenance.
