    PBC Table Mod?

Wondering if anyone has done a mod to their PBCs to create a work surface. That is probably the most inconvenient part during a cook (not bad if you can say that) is not having anyplace to set things down on, including my Maverick transmitter. I'm thinking maybe something could band around the PBC and rest on the horseshoe handles for support, but I'm really not sure how that might work. Any ideas for something simple?

I have an old kitchen table I was thinking of cutting a hole out of the center.

I've always thought those little Weber tables for the kettles were neat looking. I have a couple small tables nearby.

I have one small table next to my PBC for a landing station for the tray of meat, for example. I also use our large outdoor dining table nearby where I set up an outdoor kitchen workstation with cutting board, knives, gloves, etc.

I loop a long piece of twist-tie through the hanger on my 2 Mav transmitters (I always use 3 to 4 probes) and hang one transmitter on each horseshoe handle. The twist tie through the loop of the hanger is insurance in case the loop gets bumped when I put the rebars on the handles, for example.

Because both horseshoe handles are taken up with the transmitters, I have to lean the lid against the barrel instead of hooking it into a horseshoe handle when removing it.

The Mav receivers go in the kitchen where I'm usually preparing the rest of the meal and of course logging into my cooking log.

I'd be careful about adding tables or wings directly to the PBC. It has a pretty small footprint and would likely tip over very easily. Like Jerod and Kathryn, I simply place a small metal table next to the barrel as a work surface and a resting place for my Chef Alarms.

I bought the Trinity rolling cart when it was on sale at Costco.com about a year and a half ago. I think I paid $42.99. The cart has become indispensable for keeping all my accessories right where I need them. It rolls easily on any smooth surface. I've parked it between the Pit Barrel, the KBQ, and the Weber on many cooks. I keep the thermometers on the top shelf and it's real easy to monitor 2-3 cookers going at once. This solved a problem of always having to improvise. Finding an end table, a cardboard box or whatever else so I could have a place to set the Mavericks on. I know this won't be the answer for everybody, but for me it works great. Here's a link to the cart on Amazon. They periodically put it on sale.

i use a combo of the tray arm of the Performer and this:

A blog about BBQ, grilling recipes, smoking, kamado grills, Big Green Egg, BBQ competitions, food festivals, brand ambassador trips, and Eggfests.

it popped up on here a while ago and i bought one and it has changed my organizational skills instantly followed the schematics almost exactly as spelled out in the blog and it has made a world of difference, esp for tailgates and any other remote cooks but also for the everyday Tuesday cooks: mavs sit on top and then it actually balances the tray of meat quite well while pulling, lol. i dont think thats included in the blog...

Definitely need one of these instead of trying to pack and lug totes then having to dig through them!

That is a sickness...way too much organization.

I use a Lifetime Brand folding table that I bought at Costco. Works fine. Really, really stained with fat and coal dust but, hey thats BBQ. You can avoid this by covering it in foil.

I have had one of these for several years outdoors and it is holding up well. It has two sides that fold up or you can use one at a time. Some assembly required and batteries not included.

If you attach a table to the PBC it's gonna be complicated to dump the ash out. I'd suggest just having a self standing table nearby as the others have done.

I have been trying to find one of those weber tables that they sell the kettle grills set into for my pbc. Problem is they don't really sell just the table, and I don't need the kettle. I saw a video on youtube where a guy had used one and it looked like a pretty good setup. I think he had some draft issues though bc he had hooked it to the top of the barrel and the lid didn't fit tight.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I can see the wisdom of just getting a small portable table, especially as I'm looking to add a kettle with SnS soon, the table could travel back and forth between the two.
However, I wouldn't mind seeing the kitchen table cutout jecucolo, that sounds wonderfully hillbilly

That's how I roll. I have the PBC and SnS/Kettle combo and use a rolling cart with a cutting block on top. Meets every need...

Why is your trash can under those umbrellas? Dont you want to keep the rain off your cookers? What am I missing here?

Sounds like Jon Solberg needs a PBC so he can recognize one .
