    Kingsford Original on Sale?

Anybody finding sale prices on Kingsford Original yet?

    #2
Now that Wal-Mart's everyday price is $5 for a 15.4 lb bag I'm not sure it's worth looking for a sale anymore. Or maybe that's a promotional price. I'm not sure.

Costco recently had the "Kingsford professional Competition" bags on sale. I think it was roughly $15.50 for two 18Lb bags and they are in a blue and brown faced bag rather than the BB color. But I am curious because by the time a chimney is about ready to dump, and starting with a slightly overflowing chimney, it it well below 3/4 full. Anybody having the same results with the standard BB bags?

The competition briquettes burn hotter and faster than Blue. They diminish in size more quickly. Yes, I've had the same experience with the Competition briquettes.

I have experienced the same. I think that I will stick to the Kingsford Blue in the future since I have a better feel for what to expect.

I like the Competition briquettes when I am cooking hot and fast. I mostly use the blue though.

Yup ... I can confirm that Walmarts in Central NY are selling the $5 15.4lb bags. Funny thing is they have double 12.9 lb bags for $15. Don't get caught by this trap. My initial quick thought was to grab the double bag until I did the math in my head.

        12.9 + 12.9 = 25.8
        $15 / 25.8 = .58 per pound

        $5 / 15.4 = .32 per pound

Almost TWICE as much for the double bags.

Thanks for the Walmart tip! Here in Sioux Falls, that $5 price is good.

Just a FYI, The Home Depot almost always around Memorial Weekend and around 4th of July, puts the double pack of Kingsford Blue 18 lbs bags for $9.88. At that price, I usually get a year's worth of charcoal at one time during one of the sales.

Lowe's& Home depot puts 2 x 18.6 lb packages of KO on sale for 9.98 at least three times a year. I picked up six bags in april so im set for the summer. They're in sealed Rubbermaid containers. That's about as good as you can do, I think. That's 27 cents/lb. Vs. 32/lb (OK so I HATE Walmart)

                I picked up 14 bags - although I relocated 2 bags to the in-laws'.
